A source of Baghdadhope in Iraq who requested not to be named for obvious security reasons, confirmed the piece of news reported yesterday by some web sites that thirty families fled Mosul not to go to north but toward Baghdad, where they found hospitality with relatives and friends and help from the church of Mar Giwarsis.
The same source said that the killing of Christians in Mosul actually started in late August for a total of 21 victims, and expressed strong doubts that the families that fled the city will ever return rather than joining the other thousands that decided to take refuge abroad.
Recalling the escalation of violence, killings and threats through leaflets and loudspeakers by cars slowly going around the neighborhoods inhabited by Christians, the source pointed out as one of the last events, the destruction of three homes in the district of Hay al Sukar, marked a further important point in the strategy of emptying the city from its Christian component.
