According to data released by some humanitarian organizations operating in Iraq about 600 Christian families left Dora area in Baghdad since January. 250 of them fled to north Iraq and the others to other areas of Baghdad or abroad. According to what the families reported they fled because of the obligation to pay the “protection tax” imposed by islamic groups controlling the area, the dangerorous conditions of living and the kidnappings for ransom. Two third of the families who fled had to leave behind all their possessions.
