L’incontro di Benedetto XVI, domani, con il presidente americano Bush servirà “per parlare di pace, di giustizia e della convivenza pacifica di tutti gli uomini ma anche del rispetto della libertà religiosa per le minoranze come quella cristiana in Iraq”. A pensarla così è il prefetto della Congregazione per le Chiese orientali, card. Ignace Moussa Daoud che ieri sera ha partecipato ad una messa in suffragio del sacerdote caldeo padre Ragheed Ganni e dei suoi tre suddiaconi, uccisi il 3 giugno in un attentato a Mosul. In un’intervista al SIR, il prefetto ha affermato che la risposta da dare alla persecuzione dei cristiani iracheni “è perdonare e chiedere pace e giustizia per tutti”. “Non piangiamo – ha aggiunto, riferendosi all’assassinio del sacerdote iracheno - la Chiesa è dei martiri. Sotto gli altari delle nostre chiese ci sono le reliquie dei martiri”. Secondo Moussa Daoud, davanti alle violenze subite dai cristiani, come conversioni forzate, rapimenti, omicidi, espropri, chiese profanate o trasformate in moschee, “il mondo sta, adesso, sentendo il grido dei cristiani iracheni. Il mondo non può non vedere e non sentire ciò che accade, ma forse non può intervenire. Ma la nostra voce sta arrivando a tutti".
