CITTA' DEL VATICANO, 4 GIU. 2007 (VIS). Di seguito riportiamo il testo del telegramma di cordoglio che, a nome del Santo Padre Benedetto XVI, il Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Segretario di Stato, ha fatto pervenire all'Arcivescovo Paul Faraj Rahho, di Mossul dei Caldei (Iraq), per l'uccisione, avvenuta ieri domenica 3 giugno a Mossul (Iraq), del sacerdote cattolico Padre Ragheed Aziz Ganni e di tre suoi aiutanti Diaconi.
"Il Santo Padre ha appreso con profonda tristezza la notizia dell'insensato assassinio di Padre Ragheed Aziz Ganni e degli aiutanti Diaconi Basman Yousef Daoud, Ghasan Bidawid e Wadid Hanna, e La prega di trasmettere alle loro famiglie le sue sentite condoglianze. Il Santo Padre si unisce di cuore alla comunità cristiana di Mossul nel raccomandare l'anima dei defunti all'infinita misericordia di Dio Nostro Amorevole Padre e nel rendere grazie per la loro testimonianza al Vangelo fino all'estremo dono di sé. Nel contempo il Santo Padre prega che il loro sublime sacrificio susciti nel cuore di tutti gli uomini e donne di buona volontà la rinnovata determinazione a respingere l'odio e la violenza, a vincere il male con il bene (Rom 12:21) ed a cooperare per accelerare la venuta del giorno della riconciliazione, della giustizia e della pace in Iraq. Alle famiglie e a tutti coloro che piangono i loro morti, nella fede e nella speranza che porta la certezza della Risurrezione, Sua Santità imparte di cuore la Sua Apostolica Benedizione, in segno di consolazione e di fortezza nel Signore".

TELEGRAM FOR DEATH OF A PRIEST AND THREE DEACONS IN IRAQ
CITY, JUN 4, 2007 (VIS) - Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone S.D.B. sent a telegram, in the Pope's name, to Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho of Mossul of the Chaldeans, Iraq, for the killing in that city yesterday of Fr. Ragheed Aziz Ganni and three sub-deacons. The text of the English-language telegram follows:
"The Holy Father was deeply saddened to learn of the senseless killing of Fr. Ragheed Aziz Ganni and sub-deacons Basman Yousef Daoud, Ghasan Bidawid and Wadid Hanna, and he asks you kindly to convey to their families his heartfelt condolences. He willingly joins the Christian community in Mossul in commending their souls to the infinite mercy of God our loving Father and in giving thanks for their selfless witness to the Gospel. At the same time he prays that their costly sacrifice will inspire in the hearts of all men and women of good will a renewed resolve to reject the ways of hatred and violence, to conquer evil with good and to cooperate in hastening the dawn of reconciliation, justice and peace in Iraq. To the families and to all who mourn their dead in faith and in the hope which draws its certainty from the resurrection His Holiness cordially imparts his apostolic blessing as a pledge of consolation and strength in the Lord."

Le Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, a envoyé un télégramme au nom de Benoît XVI, à Mgr.Paulos Faraj Rahho, Archevêque de Mossul des Chaldéens, suite à l'assassinat du Père Ragheed Aziz Ganni et des diacres Basman Yousef Daoud, Ghasan Bidawid et Wadid Hanna hier, dimanche 3 juin, à Mossul. Suit le texte:
"Le Saint-Père est particulièrement attristé par la nouvelle de l'assassinat du P.Ragheed Aziz Ganni et des diacres Basman Yousef Daoud, Ghasan Bidawid et Wadid Hanna et vous demande de transmettre à leurs familles ses sincères condoléances. Il se joint à la communauté chrétienne de Mossul pour recommander leur âme à l'infinie bonté de Dieu notre Père aimant et les remercie pour leur généreux témoignage de l'Evangile. Il prie également pour que leurs coûteux sacrifices ouvrent les cours des hommes et des femmes de bonne volonté afin de rejeter toute forme de haine et de violence, pour conquérir le mal par le bien et pour coopérer à arriver rapidement à la réconciliation, la justice et la paix en Irak. Benoît XVI donne sa bénédiction apostolique à toutes les familles et à tous ceux qui pleurent leurs morts dans la foi et dans l'espérance de la certitude de la résurrection, comme signe de consolation et de réconfort dans le Seigneur".

CIUDAD DEL VATICANO, 4 JUN 2007 (VIS).-El cardenal Tarcisio Bertone ha enviado un telegrama, en nombre de Benedicto XVI, al arzobispo Paulos Faraj Rahho, de Mosul de los Caldeos (Irak), con motivo del asesinato del sacerdote Ragheed Aziz Ganni y tres subdiáconos, ayer domingo, 3 de junio, en Mosul. Sigue el texto:
"El Santo Padre se ha sentido profundamente apenado al saber del insensato asesinato del padre Ragheed Aziz Ganni y de los subdiáconos Basman Yousef Daoud, Ghasan Bidawid y Wadid Hanna. Le pide que transmita a sus familias su más sentido pésame. Se une de buen grado a la comunidad cristiana de Mosul para encomendar sus almas a la misericordia infinita de Dios, Nuestro Padre que nos ama y para dar gracias por su testimonio ejemplar del Evangelio. Al mismo tiempo suplica que este caro sacrificio inspire en los corazones de todos los hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad la decisión renovada de rechazar todos los caminos del odio y la violencia, para vencer el mal con el bien y cooperar en el despuntar del alba de la reconciliación, la justicia y la paz en Irak. A las familias y a cuantos lloran a sus muertos, con la fe y la esperanza que hunde su certeza en la Resurrección, Su Santidad imparte de todo corazón la bendición apostólica como prenda de consuelo y fuerza en el Señor".
