"La situazione sta peggiorando. Gridate con noi che i diritti umani sono calpestati da persone che parlano in nome di Dio ma che non sanno nulla di Lui che è Amore, mentre loro agiscono spinti dal rancore e dall'odio.
Gridate: Oh! Signore, abbi misericordia dell'Uomo."

Iraq: Mgr. Nona (Mosul) Christians in Mosul plunged into fear

By SIR

There is fear among Christians in Mosul, following the new wave of violence which targeted the local community in Baghdad, first with Al Queda’s attack on the Syrian Catholic Church and then on the Christian homes in different suburbs of the capital.
The Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul Mgr. Emil Shimoun Nona told SIR that “Christians find themselves plunged into fear; they know well what it means to be the target of violence, for they have experienced it in person over the past few months. In fact, they have been the first to suffer from these attacks and persecutions and now they fear for their lives. The majority of Christians in Mosul are not planning to leave the country, at least for the moment, but some people have already left. It is not enough to step up security outside Christian churches and worship places in Mosul, as it was decided after the massacre in the church in Baghdad. This is not enough for the faithful to feel safe. The lack of security is perceived even in those suburbs in which the number of Christian families is higher. The faithful are experiencing the harshness of these times and only in prayer can they find relief from their suffering”.
