Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Beatitude Mor
Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch,
accompanied by their Eminences Mor Raboula Antoine Beylouni, Mor
Dionysius Antoine Shahda, Archbishop of Aleppo, and Rev. Fr. Habib Mrad,
Patriarchal Secretary.
The meeting was attended by their Eminences the Syriac Orthodox Archbishops, members of the Holy Synod.
His Beatitude wished His Holiness the success of the Holy Synod in its meetings and decisions.
The
two patriarchs discussed important matters related to the situation of
Christians in the Middle East.
They also signed three common letters addressed to the President of Iraqi, Iraqi Prime Minister and Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament demanding the inclusion of the name “Syriac” as an ethnicity in the Iraqi constitution as a right of our people.
