Yesterday, on the occasion of the "Day of the Sick" a ceremony was held at the Syrian Catholic church of Our Lady of Salvation in Karrada, as told to Baghdadhope by Mgr. Warduni Shleimun, Chaldean bishop of Baghdad. Present at the ceremony Mgr. Warduni, the Patriarch of the Chaldean Church, Cardinal Mar Emmanuel III Delly, the head of government affairs for non-Muslims, Mr. Abdallah Naufali, and several religious including some nuns of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and some consecrated sisters of Beit Anya, a house for disabled people in Baghdad.
Today, more than a year after his appointment, the new Armenian Catholic bishop, Monsignor Emmanuel Dabaghian, who replaces the ninety years old Mgr. Boghos Koussan,took possession of his Baghdad headquarters.
Present at the ceremony held in the church of “Our Lady of the Flowers" in Karrada were the Apostolic Nuncio in Jordan and Iraq, Monsignor Francis Assisi Chullikat, the Latin bishop of Baghdad, Archbishop Jean Sleiman, representatives of the Armenian Catholic Church, among whom the same predecessor of Archbishop Dabaghian, and the Patriarch of the Chaldean church, Cardinal Mar Emmanuel III Delly accompanied by Mgr. Shleimun Warduni and Monsignor Isaac Jacques.
Also today, during his Sunday homily Pope Benedict XVI spent words of pain in reference to the attacks that last Friday bloodied Baghdad, and among the victims of which the Christian community in Iraq mourns the young Duklas Bnuel Shmuel, dead by the explosion that invested the central market of Suq al-Ghazal.
