This afternoon at 4.30 p.m.in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Rome (Via Cernaia 9) Monsignor Philip Najim, Chaldean Procurator to the Holy See and Apostolic Visitor in Europe will celebrate a Mass for all the Chaldean clergy and the faithful in Rome.
In an interview with Baghdadhope Monsignor Najim said:
"We will celebrate a Mass for the souls of the witnesses of the faith who in Iraq gave their lives to protect that of their bishop, Monsignor Faraj P. Rahho. It will also be an opportunity to raise our prayers to the Lord to enlight the minds of the kidnappers and inspire their mercy for a sick man, who always served his church and his country and who, by his very presence in Mosul was a sign of unity between Christians and Muslims and between Christians of different churches in the city. A man wit a simple and joyful spirit that must return as soon as possible among us.
Excellence, what are the feelings of the Chaldean community in these terrible moments?
"We are all sorry and sad. We cry for mercy for Mgr. Rahho and we ask to have information on his state of health".
No comment instead from Mgr. Najim on negotiations under way in Iraq for the release of Mgr.Rahho.
