Saturday October 13. Opening of the “Father Ragheed Ganni’s Medical Center” in the church of Mar Qardagh in Erbil. The medical center will distribuite medicines for free to chronic patients, christians and muslims, who will book in in its registers.
The center, wanted by Father Rayan P. Atto, parish priest of Mar Qardagh, is dedicated to the memory of Father Ragheed Ganni, the Chaldean priest killed in Mosul on last June.
At the opening ceremony will be present the Chaldean bishop of Mosul, Mgr. Faraj P. Rahho, the chaldean bishop of Amadhiya and episcopal administrator of Erbil, Mgr. Rabban Al Qas who will guide the ceremony, the chaldean patriarch vicar and rector of Babel College in Ankawa, Mgr. Jacques Isaac, priest, monks and nuns from Erbil and Ankawa. Among the invited guests there are the syriac catholic bishop of Mosul, Mgr.George Qas Musa, the syriac ortodox bishop of the same city, Mgr. Gregorios Saliba Shamoun, and personalities from Erbil, inculding representatives of the Kurdish Regional Government that has partially financed the center.
The medical center will be opened officially on October 13 because on the same day in 2001 Father Ragheed Ganni was ordained priest and to remember Father Paul Iskandar, the syriac orthodox priest whose savage killing in Mosul, on October 2006, preceded of some months that of Fr. Ragheed.
The “Father Ragheed Ganni’s Medical Center” in Erbil is based on voluntary service: that of those who work in it, and that of those who from abroad sent and will send the necessary medicine sto make it work.
