Mourning in the Chaldean church Due to a car accident died today on the way to the hospital Father Salem Habib Ganni. The accident happened around Mosul, and claimed the life not only of the 67-years-old Chaldean priest but also of his driver who died immediately.
Father Salem was born in Karamles in 1942 and there he was ordained priest in 1971 by Msgr. Jibrail Ganni. For three years he served the church in the diocese of Basra then he went to Lebanon where due to an unsuccessful eye surgery he completely lost his eyesight. In 1974 he returned to Karamles where, despite his handicap, he served until his death by participating in several projects concerning the churches of the village.
