Surprise move of the Iraqi government in favour of the Christian community in the country. Two days ago, as Msgr. Shleimun Warduni, Chaldean Patriarch Vicar, said to Baghdadhope, he himself and the Patriarch Cardinal Mar Emmanuel III Delly had by the mayor of the city, Dr. Saber Nabet Al-Essawi, the assurance that the Chaldean Church will be given a building lot for the construction of a new church.
"For now it is a promise" said Msgr.Warduni, "it will be a land of no less than 10,000 m², but it was not discussed where it is."
Questioned on the constituent meeting of the Council of the Heads of Christian Churches in Iraq that took place on last March Msgr.Warduni said that the works took place regularly, that the draft of the statute has been delivered to the canonists for the final checks and that in the next meeting an election will appoint the chairman and the secretary of the Council
