Only some days after the meeting between the Chaldean Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Emmanuel III Delly and the leader of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, Abdul Aziz Al Hakim, the meetings between Christians and Muslims representatives in Iraq continues.
In a telephone conversation with Baghdadhope, Mgr. Shleimun Warduni, Patriarch Vicar of the Chaldean Church, told about the dinner he offered to about fifty people in his church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Palestine St. in the Iraqi capital.
"We were Christians, Muslims, Arabs, Kurds. There was the Sayyd Jassim al-Jazairi of the nearby Shiite mosque of Baqiat Allah, a representative of the governmental office for the affairs of non-Muslims and many representatives of the families living in the area. "

A dinner for a special occasion, linked to the one Cardinal Delly had with representatives of SIIC, or what?
"No, there is no link with the meeting the Patriarch had, and it was not a special occasion. These meetings are less rare one can think. In the church of the Virgin it was not the first. Our relations with the other components of the country who want dialogue are good and these meetings serve to cement them. "
Sayyd Jassim al-Jazairi congratulated Mar Emmanuel III Delly on his appointment as cardinal ...
"Yes. On that occasion, shortly after the return of the Cardinal from Rome, there was a great celebration in my church attended also by the Apostolic Nuncio in Iraq, Mgr. Francis A. Chullikat, and the Sayyd Jassim al-Jazairi stated that he wanted to show by his presence the unity of Iraqi people "

A unit that meetings like the one of tonight promote?
"Absolutely. The unity of our people is very important to us. Iraqis share the love of the only God and God is love in the hearts, love that must lead us to concordance. Despite all the difficulties we experienced and we are still experiencing the concordance among all the components of the country is of paramount importance so that our beloved country can find peace and its rightful place in the world. For this we work, we dialogue, we try to find and propose solutions for the benefit of Iraqis, all Iraqis. We do so as sons of this country, Christians who inhabited it since remote ages and who, despite the emigration, live in it and want to continue to do so. "
