President Masoud Barzani received (April 4) Mr. Louis Raphael Sako, the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Babylon today at his office in Salahadin. The meeting was attended by a number of Chaldean clergymen who collectively expressed their thanks to the President of the Kurdistan Region for his role in providing a refuge for the Christian communities fleeing the violence of the rest of Iraq.
Mr. Sako also stated that the message of gratitude from Iraq's Christian communities to President Barzani has been conveyed to the Holiness of Pope Francis in the Vatican.
President Barzani warmly welcomed the delegation and reiterated the stance of the Kurdistan Region that coexistence is part of the history of this Region. President Barzani also stated that discrimination of any sort in the Kurdistan Region will never be accepted.
