Iraq’s President receives the delegation of the ancient Eastern Church in Iraq and the world

The Iraqi President Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received Sunday, 18-6- 2023, the delegation of the ancient Eastern Church in Iraq and the world at Baghdad Palace, headed by Patriarch Mar Gorgis III Greek*, and his accompanying delegation including a number of Beatitudes and Eminences and Bishops.
During the meeting, the President welcomed the members of the delegation, and congratulated Patriarch Mar Gorgis III Greek on his inauguration as a new Patriarch of the ancient Eastern Church in Iraq and the world, wishing him success on the path to achieving harmony, peaceful coexistence, and brotherhood among Iraqis, in a way that secures a free and decent life for all citizens of different religions and beliefs.
The President highlighted the importance of establishing security and stability in the country, which is an important factor in providing services and reviving the infrastructure, indicating that there is an effort in the city of Mosul to rehabilitate churches and restore them to their previous conditions.
For his part, Patriarch Mar Gorgis III Greek expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for the warm welcome and his efforts of uniting all Iraqis , meanwhile, he explained the affairs of the church in Baghdad. He also praised the improvement of the security and urban conditions in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the provinces.
