The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Holy See, Dr. Amal Moussa Hussein met with Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, in his office in the Ministry building in the Vatican City.
The Undersecretary welcomed the Ambassador
and thanked her for initiating the visit, wishing her success in her work and
representing her country, which the Pope looks forward to visit next year.
In turn, the Ambassador thanked her host
for welcoming her and expressed her happiness and that of the people of Iraq
for the declaration of His Holiness Pope Francis on his intention to visit Iraq
and the aspiration of all Iraqis for this historic visit which will be the main
support for the Christians of Iraq to stay in the country and also encourage
the pilgrimage of Christians to the birth city of the prophet Abraham (peace be
upon him) to the historic city of Ur.
The two sides discussed the proposed
program of the Pope’s visit and the places that His Holiness wishes to visit in
order to prepare the necessary preparations by the Iraqi government to achieve
the desired objectives.
