Iraqi President, meeting His Beatitude Louis Raphael I Sako, underlines the need to hold dialogue and convergence, put aside differences, as well as enhancing Iraq's security and its stability

The meeting took place at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad. 
At the outset of the meeting, Cardinal Sako Patriarch of Chaldean Church expressed his gratitude and appreciation to President Salih for his efforts made to the success of the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq, commending the government's extensive efforts that made it possible. 
He noted that the Pope visit was very important to all the Iraqi, and it was applauded and warmly welcomed by Muslims, Christians and Iraqi populations from all backgrounds. 
President Salih hailed the unrelenting quest of the Iraqi church and its tireless endeavors for succeeding the visit. The Pope's visit to Iraq was a deep message of human solidarity to Iraq that has suffered from violence and disputes, he continued, the country looks forward to moving ahead to build peace, security and stability. Iraq exerts all the efforts in the pursuit of dialogue, coexistence and human brotherhood, with focus on safeguarding all the Iraqi components, he added. 
The President emphasized how important it was to hold dialogue and convergence. A solution to unresolved issues must all be found, and all the differences must be put aside, and these must be done on the basis of the highest interest of the people, thereby guaranteeing their essential needs and enhancing security and stability, he said.
