Will stability bring back Christians to their homes in Nineveh

By The Baghdad Post

After over nine hard months of bloody, devastating war in Mosul and as ISIS terrorists are ousted from the war torn city, life slowly comes back to its streets and neighborhoods.
Tens of Christian families are beginning to return to their historic al-Hamdaniya district in eastern Mosul.
Christian civilians are currently restoring, rebuilding their homes, infrastructure and destroyed governmental buildings by both ISIS and Iraqi forces.
Over 500 Christian families chose to leave the displacement camps and take the challenge of rebuilding, bringing back their neighborhoods and their ways of life.
The Baghdad Post met with Sabri Rafu Ibrahim, one of Christian Nineveh Plain Protection Units (NPU), as he described how once al-Hamdaniya district was liberated, its residents came back to their homes.
On the other hand, Victoria told of her suffering under ISIS rule as her vehicle was stolen by terror group, but she was thankful as they didn't kidnap or kill her.
Despite the destruction of their homes, Christians expressed their happiness and relief for returning home.
They also urged Haider al-Abadi's government to secure other Christian's return to their home and compensating them for the destruction so they can rebuild and restore their lives once more.
Christian civilians also praised the Iraqi forces for liberating their homes, warning the government from repeating the same mistakes of the previous sectarian government that created many rifts in the fabric of Iraqi society.
After over three years of life in displacement camps, life seems bright once more for Nineveh's Christian community.
