Archbishop Bashar Warda
of Erbil in Iraq is to be the guest of honour at a special Mass and event to mark the launch of the 2011 edition of Aid to the Church in Need’s report on Christians oppressed for their faith, Persecuted and Forgotten?
On Thursday, 17th March, Archbishop Warda will concelebrate 5.30pm Mass at Westminster Cathedral with Archbishop Vincent Nichols.
Then at 7.00pm, the launch of Persecuted and Forgotten? takes place in the Cathedral Hall.
Archbishop Warda will give a personal witness of the situation for Christians in Iraq.
John Pontifex, Aid to the Church in Need’s head of press and information and editor of Persecuted and Forgotten? will give an overview of the perseuction Christians in many countries face for their faith.
Archbishop Bashar Warda is a longstanding friend of Aid to the Church in Need and is leading his people through some of the worst persecution Iraq has seen. Please do join us for this important Mass and free event.
