The Patriarch of the Caldean Church, Cardinal Mar Emmanul III Delly, arrived today in Mosul, the city that saw in recent weeks an increasing wave of violence against the Christian community.
The patriarch, in his private visit, met some government representatives such as the Governor of Niniveh province, Mr. Abdul Aziz Athiel An-Nujaifi who assured him about the willingness of the government to protect the Christian community and to help the families still living in the city and those that left it because of the attacks occurred in the last days.
Cardinal Delly, recalling how the Christian are original inhabitants of Iraq and that they will never accept to be expelled from their country, added that the Church will use every mean at its disposal to inform the public opinion about the fate of the Christians to find a way to protect them and to fix their role in the re-building of the country.
