A new alarm for the Christian community of Baghdad

By Baghdadhope

On last Sunday in every church of Baghdad an alarming appeal was read to the faithful.
This is what Msgr. Shleimun Warduni, the Chaldean vicar patriarch, declared to Baghdadhope.
"Since a couple of weeks ago some people are contacting the Christian families in Baghdad convincing them to enrol in a register so that, this is what this people say, they will be given money coming from the Pope. It is not true."
Is this the reason of the appeal made in every church?
"Yes, we warned the community not to enrol in any register, to distrust these people because what they say is false."
Who are these people? And why are they acting in this way?
"We still don't know who they are. They introduce themselves as members of an organization that can help the Christian families to get money by the Vatican. We still don't know why are they lying in this way. We only know that it can be potentially dangerous and that's why we advised our people to be careful."
Do you want to explain how you can be sure that these people are liying?
"Yes. If the case were true it should follow a precise bureaucratic procedure. The first to know about the money should be the Apostolic Nunciature then, for the Chaldean church for example, the Patriarchate, and then the Caritas that should take care of its distribution to the people in need."
What will the Christian leaders will do to stop this potential danger?
"We will try to know who are these people and what's their aim. And we will go on in warning the members of our community. They already suffered so much, and they don't deserve to be cheated or, worse, endangered."
