Warm welcome for the new Cardinal, Mar Emmanuel III Delly, on his way back to Iraq. Hundreds of people gathered in Mar Yousef Church in Ankawa to participate to the Holy Mass celebrated by Mar Delly with Mgr. Shleimun Warduni, Auxiliary Bishop of Baghdad and that precedes the prelates’ return to the capital city after the Roman ceremonies. Many personalities from Ankawa and different representatives of the Kurdish Regional Government, led by Mr. Sarkis Aghajan, its Minister of Finance, who had welcomed the new Cardinal in the airport of Erbil, were also present in the church.
AFP agency that reported the news to Europe, described the ceremony led by Mar Delly as the “first mass since being made a cardinal.” Actually, it was his third celebration considering the one held in Santa Maria della Traspontina church in Rome on the 26 of November, and the one that saw a lot of Chaldean faithful living in Amman gathering in Our Lady Vergin of Nazareth church on the 2 of December. Present in Amman were also Mgr. Shleimun Warduni, Mgr. Faraj P. Rahho, Father Raymond Moussalli, Chaldean Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, Father Basel Yaldo, Father Samir Alkhouri, Mgr. Michel Sabbah, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and Mgr. Salim Sayegh, Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan.
